New Patriotic Party (NPP) activist who is also an Assembly Member for Abrepo-Mpatasie in the Kumasi metropolis Ohemeng Ian Moore has thrown a jab at musician Rex Omar, MyNewsGh.com has filed.
The ‘NPP Assemblyman’ said Rex Omar’s songs sound like the party he supports, which is the opposition NDC.
Rex Omar who is a highly respected member of the creative industry days ago said he loves the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and was also proud of it.
He told Natalia Andoh on Class FM that musicians’ political decisions must be respected because they are also citizens and have rights of choice.
“I think it’s about time that we allowed artistes to also speak their mind… We are artistes but we’re also citizens, we have families, we have children, we are part of the system,” he said.
“You cannot say, because you’re an artiste, because you belong to the NDC or NPP then I hate you. What kind of system are we running, then?” he quizzed.
This appears not to have gone down well with some elements of the ruling NPP who have become increasingly abusive and intolerant of dissenting views.
