Wee smokers take over school at Fawode R/C JHS, Primary school
Indian hemp smokers have invaded the compound of the Fawode R/C Junior High School (JHS) and primary school at Fawode in the Kwabre East District in the Ashanti Region, to the utter discomfort of teachers and students.
The syndicate openly smoke the stuff and inhale super glue under trees in the school even when classes are in session and all efforts made by the school authorities to stop them have proved futile.
Mr Nicholas Ofori, Headmaster made this known to Silver FM’s Akwadaa Nyame in an exclusive interview which according to him is the cause of the fallen standard of education in the area.
Mr Ofori noted that the attitude of the wee smokers was luring a number of young children in the community to engage in the practice and called on opinion leaders in the area to take pragmatic measures to stop the activity. He said the act was promoting indiscipline among the youth.
Mr Nicholas Ofori expressed regret about the situation and urged the community leaders to call on the security agencies to assist in solving the problem.
He urged parents to effectively monitor the movements of their children to free them from negative peer influence. He has therefore cautioned the students against premarital sex
and to take their education seriously to become responsible adults.
Mr Kwadwo Kusi,a concern resident in the area expressed concern about the number of the youth in the area who had become drug addicts and cautioned the students against the practice.
Mr Kusi, said leaders in the community launch an educational endowment fund to support brilliant but needy students.
Meanwhile, some of the students express worried about how the public has take over the school toilet making the whole place uncomfortable.They said, they normally came to school and meet human excrata in the school compound which they have to scrub and sweep the whole place before they can start.They stressed that, they sometimes couldn’t stand at the scents that comes from their toilet during classes hours.
