Residents of Ebom community cry over lack of social amenities.
Residents of Ebom community in the Afigya Kwabre District of the Ashanti Region, have made a passionate appeal to the government, to relieve them from their continuous unbearable living conditions.
According to the people, their livelihood is characterised by lack of potable water, healthcare, educational facilities, good roads and toilet facilities, which are difficult to come by.
A visit to the community recently by Silver FM’s Akwadaa Nyame revealed that, the residents to a large extent, depend on water from a valley that dries up often and most especially, during the dry season.
Some concerned people in the community said the damaged roads and bridges are having a negative effect on businesses in the area, hence their call on the government to come to their aid as early as possible.
Meanwhile, the Aspiring Assembly member for the community, Prince Opoku said, these problems have been in existence for a very long time, but nothing has been done about them, notwithstanding the numerous appeals by the people.
Mr Prince Opoku continued that he and his various youth groups have made it known to several government officials to help the town in making the situation known to the government, but it appears there is no help in sight.
He said, it got to a time the youth in the community wanted to demonstrate, but the elders in the community advised them not to proceed.
He added that, the school in the community is in a very poor state and also lacked basic teaching and learning materials to enable the teacher’s impact knowledge into the children.
As if that is not enough, the community has no clinic which serves the people and it also affects the health delivery in the community.
He appealed to the Government and other Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to come to the aid of the community.
