esidents of Atimatim New Site in the Afigya Kwabre South district of the Ashanti Region have made a passionate appeal to the government to relieve them from their continuous unbearable living conditions.
According to the people, their livelihood is characterised by lack of potable water, healthcare, educational facilities, good roads and toilet facilities, which are difficult to come by.
A visit to the community recently by the Silver FM’s Akwadaa Nyame revealed that the residents, to a large extent, depend on borehole that dries up often, and, most especially, during the dry season.
Some concerned people in the community said that the damaged roads and bridges are having a negative effect on businesses in the area, hence their call on the government to come to their aid as early as possible.
Meanwhile, the Aspring Assembly member in the area Rev. Jeffrey Annor Acquah, said these problems have been in existence for a very long time, but nothing has done about them, notwithstanding the numerous appeals by the people.
Rev. Annor Acquah continued that he and some stakeholders in the area have made it known to the district Assembly several times to help them in making the situation known to the central government, but it appears there is no help in sight.
He said it got to a time the youth in the community wanted demonstrate, but the elders advised them not to proceed.
“Our community is a large with intellectuals but because of the nature of the road, they find it difficult to live there and established businesses.
The entire community is appealing to the government to please come to their aid,” he appealed.
He added that the collapse of bridge in the road is badly affected, because of this, and the road has become less, busy affecting traders around that area.
As if that is not enough, the only health center in the community don’t accept NHIS card.
