Nyinahin residents angry, demand abrogation of lease for bauxite mining
Some Kyekyewere, Kasitie, Nyinahin, Kyirayaaso in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti region has called on government to have an agreement with the residents over the mining of bauxite in their forest reserve.
Hundreds of irate youth from the above communities in the Atwima Mponua District in the Ashanti Region, dressed in red attire, on Sunday took to the streets of the town to register their displeasure against the Minister of Lands and Natural Resource and the Forestry Commission for allowing Exton Cubic, a private firm, to prospect for bauxite in the area without proper agreement.
According to the the convener of the concern residents of Atwima Mponua Dr Peter Twum, some of the residents need to be catered for especially the children in the various communities.He also explain that, those who will evacuate from their village should be put on government pay roll after been compensated till thy kingdom comes.
They have therefore appealed to the government to involve them in governing board so that, they will see the interest affairs of their people.
