The Assembly member for Biemso No2 electoral area in the Ahafo-Ano South West district of the Ashanti Hon Joseph Boadu, has appealed to government to build health center, befitting the status of their community.
He explained that the health center will ease the suffering of patients, reduce needless deaths and referral of emergency cases to district hospitals and urban centres and also revealed that patients and pregnant women sometimes walked or travel over 20 kilometers to access healthcare.
In an exclusive interview with Silver FM’s Akwadaa Nyame, Hon Boadu explained that, though they have a CHIP Compound that serves about 21 communities and because of the lack of space and beds, patients including pregnant women and nursing mothers resort of sleeping on the floor. He said, the delivery room is also uses as OPD and admit patients for both males and females.
He added that, they need equipment to aid the administrative work of the health centre. The needed items include refigerators, infant scales, delivery sets, OPD department, and accommodations for the nurses to work at night.
Some of the residents in the area highlighted some of the major issues hampering quality healthcare delivery including poor road network and therefore urged government to assist the district in that regard.
Some of the nurses also noted that a befitting health center would be a big intervention in the various communities around Biemso No2 healthcare delivery system.
