An Aspiring Assembly Member for Asokwa Extension electoral area in the Asokwa municipality of the Ashanti Region Mr Sherrif Gyamfi participated in the patching of potholes opposite Kumasi Mall stretch to Asokwah interchange.
With the support of the youth in the community, the Aspiring Assembly Member helped in filling gaping potholes with concrete on some 20-kilometre stretch of the Asokwa highway.
Mr Sheriff Gyamfi told Silver FM’s Akwadaa Nyame that, the initiative was to help prevent road crashes, mainly from drivers having to maneuver dangerously around potholes at breakneck speed.
He said there was the need to protect the asphalted portion of the road from further destruction, and that the initiative was a self-help effort at addressing bad roads.
“This is what I can do for my community, and we are doing it all the way to Asokwa Extension where the asphalt ends”.
The Aspiring Assembly Member said he was actively lobbying stakeholders on the construction of the Asokwa streets roads, and would expect that priority was given to the road.
He accused the previous government and the Kumasi metropolitan assembly of abandoning the road project and stated that he would get it constructed when voted into power.
Mr Gyamfi declared support for the fix Asokwa Roads” campaign.
He said he was also working on getting a grader to shape other streets roads in the community.
He has further lamented on security challenges within the electoral, saying half of his community lacked street light although they classified as first class residential area in the Ashanti Region.
He noted that lack of street lights in the area is increasing rubbery cases in the area and believe if care is not taken no one would like to come and shop there at night.
Residents in the area commend the aspiring assembly member Mr sheriff Gyamfi for such for such wonderful job and promise to for him in this upcoming district assembly elections.
