The Ashanti regional police commander COP Akwasi Mensah Doku, has cautioned members of the Ashanti Regional Election Security Task Force not to let their parochial interests cloud their judgement in the discharge of their duties.
He said the peace of the nation was very paramount for the development of the nation and, as such, the members should ensure that they discharged their duties efficiently in order not to plunge the country into chaos.
At the inauguration of the Ashanti Regional Election Security Task Force, COP Akwasi Mensah Doku asked members of the task force to ensure that the peace of the country was maintained and to let their professionalism show in their work.
The task force is made up of all the regional heads of security agencies including the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), the Ghana Immigration Service, the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, the Ghana National Fire Service, the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Armed Forces.
The inauguration ceremony was performed by the Ashanti Regional Supervising High Court Judge, Justice Kofi Akrowiah who administered the oath of office to the members.
The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, COP Akwasi Mensah Doku, who is also the chairman of the regional election security task force, pledged to work assiduously to ensure that the election of Assembly members, referedum of MMDCS and the 2020 general election was free and fair.
He acknowledged that the task ahead was as challenging as the peace of the region and that of the country rested on the shoulders of the members.
According to him, the task force would be very instrumental in ensuring security before, during and after the polls.
He thus called for the collaboration of all members to safeguard the sanctity of the polls.
